Saint Bernard- Not meant for Delhi weather

Saint Bernard rescue by Fauna Police

Cute and fluffy, these gentle Saint Bernard dogs have a low rate of survival in warm place like Delhi. Fauna Police has found several abandoned Saint Bernards on the streets of Delhi. Whosoever said "Dilli dilwalo ka shere hai"never saw these gentle giants suffering.

Originating from the Alps of Switzerland, France and Italy, Bernards in India perish in a shorter span of time. Those who bring these dogs home without knowledge of this breed, often find it difficult to maintain them. From large quantity diet to moderate temperature, Saints demand a lot of care and attention. Several Saints have been abandoned on the streets by owners who cannot afford their treatment or food. Inspite of limited resources and financial constraints, these poor Saints were taken in by Fauna Police. For general awareness, we provide dog boarding facility. We are NOT a shelter home.

While few Saints have been adopted by the right families, few still remain with Dog's Inn, waiting for a loving family.

This Saint Bernard was malnutrition-ed. It was found in a terrible condition with no hopes of survival. Partly by its willingness to live and partly by care at Dog's In, he survived. Though his chances of making it for a long time seems difficult. We appeal to masses to research before getting a dog home and not abandon them one fine day. The dogs go in state of shock and feel emotionally drained out. Ultimately they die longing for the owner to return. Please have a heart.

Abandoned lab rescued

This was the last rescue before the suspension of our Helpline- 8 animals were rescued a day before our helpline was suspended. Vivek Bhandari noticed an ill abandoned Lab roaming outside his office/ABP News and informed Fauna Police about the same. On our request Mr. Mohit Sangal agreed to help who picked up the the dog and took him to SPCA Noida. Dog was infected with distemper but the good news is he has started eating by himself and is doing well. He has fully recovered. We wonder from where do people get that heart to abandon a dog like lab? Will you abandon your own child if he/she is not well? A nation cannot be taught compassion until they develop the same for animals.

Cutting trees-Authorized or Unauthorized? Be aware!

Do Not allow New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to chop off "unauthorized" trees in your area.

Ask for permission papers instead.

They can only be allowed light cutting and pruning and that too with permission on paper. Its your environment, your right. Be aware, be vigilant.
