Saint Bernard- Not meant for Delhi weather

Saint Bernard rescue by Fauna Police

Cute and fluffy, these gentle Saint Bernard dogs have a low rate of survival in warm place like Delhi. Fauna Police has found several abandoned Saint Bernards on the streets of Delhi. Whosoever said "Dilli dilwalo ka shere hai"never saw these gentle giants suffering.

Originating from the Alps of Switzerland, France and Italy, Bernards in India perish in a shorter span of time. Those who bring these dogs home without knowledge of this breed, often find it difficult to maintain them. From large quantity diet to moderate temperature, Saints demand a lot of care and attention. Several Saints have been abandoned on the streets by owners who cannot afford their treatment or food. Inspite of limited resources and financial constraints, these poor Saints were taken in by Fauna Police. For general awareness, we provide dog boarding facility. We are NOT a shelter home.

While few Saints have been adopted by the right families, few still remain with Dog's Inn, waiting for a loving family.

This Saint Bernard was malnutrition-ed. It was found in a terrible condition with no hopes of survival. Partly by its willingness to live and partly by care at Dog's In, he survived. Though his chances of making it for a long time seems difficult. We appeal to masses to research before getting a dog home and not abandon them one fine day. The dogs go in state of shock and feel emotionally drained out. Ultimately they die longing for the owner to return. Please have a heart.
